12/18/22- A Male American Kestrel peering over Manhattanville, 125th Street. I was waiting for the annual holiday NYC subway train that takes passengers on one of the IRT lines (Number trains). Winter is a popular season for raptors, especially owls and eagles, but seeing a kestrel during this season was a surprise indeed, for they can sometimes travel in groups in the summer months.
2/12/23- A Barred Owl in Pelham Bay Park in the evening. Also known as “hoot owls” for their mating calls, which sound like “Who-cooks-for-you? Who-cooks-for-youuu-all”. I was walking the Siwanoy trail alone, and after encountering some deer and flocks of turkey, a huge bird swept down from the trees across my path, to this branch you see here. It stared at me for less than 25 seconds, until it flew away to another tree.
08/20/22- Raccoons along the East River. I was doing some Astoria Park photoshoots and decided to head down to the shoreline of the estuary. Park-goers alerted me to their presence, and so before I jumped out, I took their picture. Beautiful trash pandas.

08/20/22: The sun dances as it descends into oblivion. Before the racoon encounter, I crouched to my ankles and angled my camera to capture the sun’s scattered reflection off the water, as the evening tide came in.
